Default Print spooling in XP

How can I turn off print spooling when printing from a
MSDOS box in XP? The Quick-Basic program does the LPRINT
command and then it is about 30 seconds before the HP
Deskjet begins printing. It correctly prints immediately
under the MSDOS box in Windows 98. I need it to do the
same in XP.

See http://support.microsoft.com/default...n-us%3b101850.

If you "turn off print spooling" in XP, you can't print anything to any
printer.

Windows 98 and Windows XP support DOS based (16 bit) programs quite
differently, so behaviour differences are to be expected.

You might try:
1. open the Properties page for the printer
2. select the Advanced tab
3. select the "Print directly to the printer" radio button; click OK

It is perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.
