Default USB Printer Port

I have a new Compaq Presario 2100 Laptop. I am attempting
to attach an HP DeskJet 932C printer through a USB port.
It is not working. I contacte the HP site and was
instructed to add the printer and select USB Port when
asked which printer port to use. I'm using Windows XP and
the USB Port is not one of the options. Does anyone know
what I am doing wrong?

Thanks
Gary

See the document at:

It may be a good idea to remove whatever printer drivers you have already
installed and start over. See
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/Clea...erDrivers.htm.

Usually, when you connect a printer to the USB port, Windows XP will
discover it automatically and install a driver for it.

With many printer drivers, the manufacturer's instructions are to install
the driver first, then connect the printer when instructed to do so by the
installation program.

It is perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.
