Default Sharing local pc printers with macs

I have a home network consisting of a Windows XP Home
desktop and an iBook Laptop running Mac OS X. I would like
to be able to print from the iBook to the printers locally
connected to the PC, and it seems it should be possible,
but...

The Mac is able to print to "LPR Printers using IP" and I
have Print services for UNIX installed on the XP machine,
which is supposed to enable the desktop to act as an LPD
host. When setting up the printer on the Mac, I enter the
IP address of the PC and have tried various queue names
for the printers, but nothing seems to work! Is the LPD
capability only available on Windows XP Professional?

It seems like what I am trying to do is not all that
unusual, and should not be too difficult, but... Any help
would be appreciated.
..

The Appletalk protocol is no longer included in client operating
systems...see:

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;305989
The AppleTalk Protocol Is Not Available in Windows XP

It is included in the Windows 2000 Server family or the shortly forthcoming
Windows 2003 Server family (release date April 24th).... or you can use a
third party application like PCMACLan
