How do you know that they're not supposed to be accessing the internet?

it is probably the internet firewall that comes bundled with the norton systemworks suite. there are some essential processes that need to access internet resources such as 'Client server runtime process' and 'Generic process for win32 .... etc.. if u want better control over the programs and wud like to control the way they access the net a good third party firewall like ZoneAlarm is recommended. U can control it manually or i u don't want the headache of configuring each program for net access then u can set the security advisor (something like that) in automatic mode so that it does all the configuring for u based on predefined rules.
Hope this was helpful. do let me know.
