OT Bitcoin mining?

One thing I found rather amazing, is that anyone would invest in a custom silicon design project, to make custom bitcoin miner chips. The only thing comparable to those chips, is the GPU chips on high end video cards. At the 300W level, you need very good cooling (so lots of fan noise, in your mining lab). The only thing I could figure, I thought of a joint venture between a building owner and a bitcoin miner.. the excess heat could be used to heat the building. It would work in colder climates but not everywhere. I have not done the math to see if its feasible to invest in the hardware. |

But the excess heat could be used to power an air-conditioner, analogous to the old Servel gas refrigerators. That would make it feasible for warm climates as well. -- Gene E.
