1) Look in Control Panels : Programs and Features

If your copy of Windows 10 has lost its control panels,
don't freak out. Try typing "control" in the run box.
You should see the old Control Panels (for a limited time
until they really remove it).

What!!?? I use the control panel all the time.

The Insider Edition has removed the Control Panel from
the menu. But, you can still get to it.

For Microsoft, this is a subtle signal as to design intent.
They really want to shove the whole Control Panels into
the Settings Pinwheel. Since they seem to be refusing
to do this incrementally, I assume some release will have
a "flash conversion" and all of it will go over in one shot.

A couple of Insider Editions, have had an extra icon added
to Settings, but it was for Hololens or something. I suspect
there may have been an A/B UI comparison as part of the plan,
as I have two Insider installs, and the Settings Pinwheel looked
different on each.

In addition, Command Prompt is removed from the menu. To
encourage you to use Powershell. Now, while I do use
Powershell for Powershell-related activities, it isn't
my first choice for DOS-era shenanigans. That's because
Powershell has its own arcane rules. So the substitution
as far as I'm concerned is "bunk".

This is why I predict a "SmartPhone-like" desktop,
probably just in time for the Win7 End-Of-Extended Support.

The "Crater" edition of Win10, will be delivered from
the Insider Edition. But if they have any evolutionary
changes planned, they'd damned well better hurry up.
"Crater" is supposed to come out in April (with a fair
level of uncertainty). I don't know how they do scheduling
at Microsoft, and how they work "feature close" on a
rolling release.

No. Once you remove it Windows Defender is enabled.

There is some registry key that an AV can use, to
announce it is present. Once the key is removed,
Windows Defender should become active.

You just pay an annual fee whatever they are asking and the nag screen
will disappear for 1 year. This means you can continue to use the
product for free for one year. a very good deal it is for you so take
it before they change their mind.

If this doesn't fix then clearly you need to ask a geek to fix it for
you. Considering you hate Windows10, so I suggest you could drop the
machine three times and see if it fixes it.

You go to the control panel and select add remove programs and uninstall it.
McAfee has a removal tool on its web site for completely removing its
products from youre system

My Toshiba Win10 laptop came with McAfee stuff.
It now says my free trial has expired and I told it I did not want to do
any fee based upgrade but it STILL nags me !

How do I get rid of this damn nag but keep the free portion ?

If not able to do that then how do I completely clean the McAfee off the
laptop ?

I'll bet that Windows uninstall does not do it completely since in the
past I have seen this same lack of complete cleaning.

If you didn't notice hawk i was the original reply to the OPS post and any
one that has used a computer knows how to uninstall a program.
McAfee gives you a free removal tool on it's web site but not many know
about it because the company wants to try to get you to keep it's products.

Hey look, Andy repeating advice given at least half a dozen times
already. Your ability to copy other people's posts, badly, is
astounding. Now if you actually knew anything of value.

You joined the discusion days late and parroting advice given numerous
times already, just as you always do. You wait for some who appears to
have a clue to post and then repeat what you saw them write.

No, I just hate morons like you who wait for four or five people to post
the correct answers and then act like you're brilliant because you
copied what they said. Oh, that and the hundreds of lies you've been
caught telling.

You were only 'right' because 4 or 5 other people had already answered
the question and you just copied down what they wrote.

site.

You said you were the 1st to answer, now you admit you know you weren't.
Like you your answer was useless as it had already been given several
times. Same old lying sack of ****.

No, not being a lying sack of **** matters. You outright lied when you
claimed to be the first responder when you know you weren't.

what you think means **** to the rest of us.

Now you think you speak for anyone but yourself? You can barely put
together two coherent thoughts a year.

IF you cant say something good then shut the **** up.

So you can be rude but I can't? Sorry, cockbite, you're not that
special.

As a mall janitor, it's ironic that you used the phrase "wipe the floor
with you". When I picture that, I picture you in your janitor uniform,
with "Andy" embroidered above the shirt pocket.

You might know that a "light year" is a unit of distance, so "light
years ahead" would mean you're a long way from here.

What kind of computers do you have around Alpha Centauri? :-)
