G'day

If I can ping other computers on the network, but not my
own, what have I done wrong?

are you sure you're typing your own IP address right? Can you ping your own

Pretty sure, I had eight hours of practice!
I'm using IP Address, as reveled by IPCONFIG and other
things, not computer name.

The most likely cause is an improperly configured firewall program on
the computer that can't ping itself. To find out, disable and
un-install ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security, etc. Then, go to
Start | Run | Msconfig | Startup and disable any firewall remnants.

If you've previously un-installed a firewall, re-install it and then
un-install it using the procedure provided by the program's author.
