Default !!Icons in task bar for running programs not showing!!

I just reformated my 80gig h/d and loaded win xp pro:
Intel® Desktop Board D845EBG2 based system Board model
Genuine Intel® D845EBG2 system board
OS version Windows* XP version 5.1 Service Pack 1 build 2600
OS memory 523,056 KB RAM
Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 2.40GHz
512 MB RAM
DDR266
I am having this problem. I have some programs that I have installed
that are suppose to load when windows starts and remain in the task
bar, i.e. I have a program called hot fax message center that is a
answering machine and a fax I also have a cookie monitor and also
Intel Active Monitor. All of these programs are running but I can't
see the Icons. I have made sure the options are set to load when
Windows starts. I have gone into my task bar properties and have set
to show. I also have items in the custom area that say past. How do I
remove them? Some of them are no longer in my system. I have
uninstalled these programs and reinstalled them. But when I reboot
they don't show. I have tried to install the program again, but
Windows says the program is already running. Any suggestions will be
greatly appreciated. I have exhausted all of my resources
Regards,
Arm
