Default I don't have my win. xp cd

I bought a computer from a private party and did not
receive a cd for win.xp. Should I purchase another one
(xp cd)and remove the old version and reinstall the newer
one? And if so is there a web page that will give me step
by step instructions on how to do such? The reasoning
behind updating is my computer keeps bombing. And now
that my kids are out of the house I'd like to get it
running properly so I can use it! Any help is greatly
appreciated!

Yes, purchase a "Full Version" of Windows XP and
perform a "clean install".

Mike;
Possibly, but without the CD and original license and Product, it is
not a licensed installation.

...
Or!! It may be CHEAPER to have a PC professional to look at it - and

try and diagnose/fix the actual problem .... Could save some dollars..

The person you bought it from is required to give you the CD too.
