Default reinstall over fatal flaw

can I reinstall a partially uninstalled program (Word in
Works Suite 2000)over a part of itself that was fatally
flawed during installation? It is so flawed that I can't
uninstall it. Will it 'fill in' and correct the flaw? I
thought I had it fixed by uninstalling but I didn't. My
OS is win xp home. Thanks for any suggestions PS- Works
suite is now missing in the control panel. Also, how do
I get to system restore? Chas
