disk cleanup help...

Hi there,

When i start the XP disk cleanup it keeps locked at "compacting old files"
and does not show
progress anymore. I can see some HD movement but after a long time waiting,
computer hangs and
even shuts down. I checked it up for virus but it´s ok...
Any help ?

When you run the Disk Cleanup utility, the program may stop responding =
(hang) while scanning for compressed files.

Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.=20
Locate and then click the following registry key:=20
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Vol=
umeCaches\Compress Old Files

On the Edit menu, click Delete.=20
When prompted to "Confirm Key Delete," click Yes.
Quit Registry Editor.
