Default cannot connect to news servers on laptop

Hi,

I installed, just a few days ago, a wireless router access point gateway
in my condo. I have a tower running xp pro, and a laptop running xp home.
No luck on the wifi front yet, but I have both computers connected to the
router via cat 5 cables. I have comcast broadband internet.

On the tower, everything works, on the laptop I can't get to the newsgroups.
My ng server is giga news and access is included in the comcast monthly
fees.
That's what I'm using to post this message via my tower. I tried a few
public domain
ngs on the laptop and can't access them either.

This isn't a new situation. I've been trying to get newsgroups on the
laptop for a couple of years now, always with the same result. no go.

The laptop has Juno on it as a dialup connection. There is no firewall
or antivirus running on the laptop. When it tries to connect to the
newsgroups it does it by trying to dial juno. Of course it can't because
I don't have a phone line plugged in.

How do I make it not use Juno, and use my broadband connection
instead to connect to the newsgroup servers?

I have been unable to find any switches for it. Every couple of months
I try again and fail again, so this time I thought I'd try a newsgroup
for some help.

thanks in advance for any ideas you may have on this.

Sammy

Thanks for the quick reply Bob,
but I found that one sosmewhere along the line.
I have "Never dial a connection" checked
but it tries to dial it anyway. But only when I'm
going to newsgroups. For internet access or email
via Outlook, it uses the broadband connection.
I've also tried running NewsAgent instead of the
microsoft ng program, but that doesn't work
either.
