Windows 7 windows not coming to the top
In the past occasionally Windows stopped bringing a window to the top.
I could reboot and everything would work fine for weeks. Now it seems to be happening every day. Is anyone else having this problem. The main programs I use are Firefox, IE, VLC, TeamViewer and Forte Agent. I have VLC set to always stay on top. |

Sometimes I am listening to a documentary in one FF window and web surfing in another one. I keep tabs on a remote computer with TeamViewer and I keep Forte Agent open to check on Usenet. I use FF on my main monitor and IE on my second monitor. So all the windows are already open but when I try to switch between them by clicking on the task bar they don't come to the top. Sometimes I have VLC open but it's windowed. I almost never use it full screen. The setting for it is always on top. It stays on top, but it only takes up a quarter of the screen. |

Probably the most common reason is because you have combined windows on the taskbar. You have to hover first and then move the pointer up to select one of the windows. The only other similar situation I know of is recently in Windows 8 during an installation or something when a new window comes up behind the other windows. -- Sometimes I have VLC open but it's windowed. Keys is meant to be a short name for a module that synthesizes
(virtual) keystrokes. You should find a reference to Keys.SendInput in: vocola_ext_keys.py:10: # Vocola procedu Keys.SendInput def send_input(specification): That line looks like a comment to me. I could try changing it, but I've lost interest. Currently, I will plan on using your extension just for keys that Vocola 2 doesn't already support. Also... What are the "." and "," labels? I'm guessing these... "oemperiod" and "oemcomma" Thanks. |

[] What happens with the other means of switching - such as the venerable Alt-Tab, or the whizzy 3D one that came with 7 (or was it Vista), which is I think Win-Tab? Or clicking on a visible part of the desired window, if part is visible? (When this happens now, how are you getting round the problem - just keep minimising other windows until you see the one you want, or what?) -- J. P. Gilliver. I have already suspected that VLC might be the problem. I went all day without using VLC and I have had no problems. Tomorrow I will use VLC and see what happens. I suspect that if I turn off VLC always on top the problem will go away. It really is nice to force it always on top though. |
