Default SERVICES DILEMMA !

I have 147 available services. How to choose what's needed, and what's
not and wasting resouces and time. It often comes down to a very
laborious process of trial and elimination, requiring a reboot and
checking key apps. Some good info is available but still remains to
see what actually works. After all is said and done, I ended up with
only 53 enabled or about 2/3 disabled. At least it's easy to select
using msconfig or equivalent. A very good idea to keep track of what
you've done.

rather than MS Config I have, for 10+ years, used CodeStuff's Starter:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/S.../Starter.shtml
It gives processes, startups and services.
Next, try Black Viper's site:
http://www.blackviper.com/service-co...onfigurations/

You don't mention your OS, but the site has most on. There are also some
..reg files that can do all changes in one go, but they're possibly not what
/you/ want. There's also a file, at least for XP, that adds BV's extended
destcription to some services.
I was about to post what I have but it generated a 76kB text file!
