Default processor speed

i have a 1700mhz p4 with a max of 2400mhz how do i go
about increasing the mhz from 1700 to a higher mhz

Buy a higher speed central processor (CPU) chip. You cannot expect to
make that much difference by 'overclocking'. A 2400 P4 now is likely to
be one also that has expects to be driven from a front side bus (FSB)
speed of 533 MHz and your board probably only does 400. In that case a
Celeron 2400 with 400 MHz FSB might work; but is a doubtful benefit - I
am currently wondering whether to bother from a 1500 P4
