DVD Drive and CDRW Drive data not visible from within Windows Expl
Who can solve this one? Please help.
I have not been able to access data on my DVD and CDRW disks. They appear to be installed correctly and are shown as present under My Computer and in Device Manager. Audio CDs can also be recognised and played from within other appliactions like Media Player so this is not a hardware issue. The problem is that from within Windows explorer the inserted CDs do not appear to be there (even though they are). Can you help? All my gratitude if you can. Thanks, Grant |

Thanks for your reply.
The first link does not help me (I have tried everything suggested in it). So although I have service pack 2 already installed maybe I should try the hotfix in suggested in the second link. Where can I get this fix from? Thanks, Grant "Thorsten Matzner" wrote: "Grant" wrote: I have not been able to access data on my DVD and CDRW disks. Peter, Bob and all,
Thanks for your advice so far. Unfortunately nothing has worked yet. I have applied the registry changes etc, even tried uninstalling all CD related software etc but still no luck yet. Any further advice out there? Thanks, Grant "Peter" wrote: Hi, Pls read from this link, it may help: http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpcd.php#problems Peter "Grant" wrote: Who can solve this one? Grant,
Pls provide with more info: 1. Are you meaning that your CD/RW & DVD drives can play all audio CDs but not for any CDR or CD/RW disks that contained data files? If it is so, can both the optical drives play the CDR or CD/RW that contained audio files? Also, can both of the optical drives recognize data files previously? 2. What registries you have changed? 3. What burning softwares you are using? 4. If you uninstall all the 3rd party burning softwares, can you use the XP native burning features? 5. What kind of antivirus software you have installed? 6. What are the brand and model of your DVD and CD/RW? 7. Are you running XP Home or Pro with SP2? -- Peter "Grant" wrote: Hello - Is there anybody out there who can help me out with this continuing problem?
