Default XP shutdown problem since installed Messenger

Hi,

since I installed Messenger, xp freezes when I try to shutdown. Sometimes
even ctrl-alt-del doesn't work and I have to do a hard reboot.

Any idea as to why and more importantly correct, other than uninstalling
messenger ? This problem never happened before.
Nothin else installed since.
