"Error 1606.Could not access network location %USERPROFILE%\Recent\."
Hi
Well im asking here as a last resort, ive checked the MS KB (Microsoft Knowledge Base) and it refers to this as a problem with the registry key, of which i have looked for and it wasnt listed in the path that was detailed in the KB article. I am still getting this error when trying to install software can anyone offer any help Thanks AJ |

Try using this REG fix to reset the User Shell Folders values to Windows XP
defaults. http://windowsxp.mvps.org/reg/shellfolders.reg Download it, double click it and answer YES to the message... --------------------------- Registry Editor --------------------------- Are you sure you want to add the information in Path to shellfolders.reg to the registry? --------------------------- Yes No --------------------------- From... Reset the Shell Folders paths to defaults http://windowsxp.mvps.org/usershellfolders.htm You receive an "Error 1606" error message when you try to install or remove a Microsoft program http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;886549 -- Hope this helps. BTW, the "Recent" value in the following registry key can be deleted: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders -or- Error 1606: Could not access network location: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/msi1606.htm -- Ramesh, Microsoft MVP Windows XP Shell/User http://windowsxp.mvps.org "Wesley Vogel" wrote in message ... Fixed it guys, deleted the "Recent" reg key from HKEY_USER area and its
now working fine! Thanks for all your help |
