Default Shortcut doesn't work

Hey, Thanks RJ and Squires,

Probably mis-stated on my part. The ADrv shortcut on my computers at work (WinXP and 2000pro) are located on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen with other shortcuts that I use for programs. These both work - and yes, I understand that the floppy has t
o be in the drive.

Again, I open My Computer, right-click the A: icon, properties, send to desktop, drag the shortcut icon to my toolbar at the bottom, insert a floppy, click the shortcut, flashlight and then a message saying the target couldn't be found or whatever.

Windows is not seeing the drive when I click the shortcut even with the floppy in the drive. I've tried 2 different floppies.

The path for the target is simply described as A:\ in properties. The shortcut works if I just set it on the desktop but NOT from the toolbar.

Hope that's a little clearer. What do you guys think?

Hello,

I bought a new computer. Set up for me includes adding a shortcut to my

floppy drive, A:\.

I opened My Computer, right click the drive icon, send to desktop (create

shortcut) and there you go. Never had a problem with this before. In fact
the short cut works on the desktop but I like to put it on the tool bar - I
have quick launch enabled.

Doesn't work on the tool bar. Searches for the target (flashlight) but

can't find the target A:\. What could be the problem? This is a new machine
and everything else works perfectly. Thanks up front.

Hi, Brian,

OK, I see your problem but not sure how to fix it.
I get the same warning once in a while and have to right click the Icon, =
click properties, and click Find Target for it to work.
Different programs may or may not work the same.

Hi, David,
Sorry for calling you Brian,=20
Just a hold over from the military I guess.

Brian, I found the answer,

Right click the A: drive icon on the quick launch bar, and properties,
Then in the Start In window type: A:\CD\
It was a simple fix.
Changing to the Root directory did it.
I tried it out on several different floppies without a problem.
