Delete and install Windows Messenger and Live Messenger
Windows Messenger keeps signing on when I open Outlook Express. I have been
told to delete it and then install Live Messenger. I have also heard that if I delete the Windows Messenger that came with Windows XP, Live Messenger will not work properly after I install it. How can I do this? Also, how do I know which version of Live Messenger to install? Thanks. |

Delete and install Windows Messenger and Live Messenger
Click on Tools/Options/General and make sure the box that says
'Automatically Log on to Windows Messenger' is unchecked. "Elad" wrote in message ... Windows Messenger keeps signing on when I open Outlook Express. Delete and install Windows Messenger and Live Messenger
Greetings Elad,
To stop this behavior, close Outlook Express, then download and run the following .reg file: http://messenger.jonathankay.com/dow...ssenger_oe.reg Then restart Outlook Express and you'll find Messenger will never start again. This registry entry is different than the checkbox that has already been mentioned as OE can still start Messenger even with that checkbox disabled. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Elad" wrote in message ...
