When in Windows XP do I look to find out my processor speed and the amount of
RAM I have installed?

Right click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop and you will see
details of your CPU and installed RAM memory.

I think Gerry's suggestion to right-click on My Computer was the
simplest one.

Except that he didn't tell the OP to then select "Properties"

Yes PD43 I did slip up by missing out Properties from my instructions.
