Default Java update: Unable to validate security on file.

Java update:

Unable to validate security on file. File is either corrupted or
unsigned

Second time in 3 days I get this message. What do do? Is it talking
about the very same file, or did it dl it again? if it didn't, can I?
I can't figure out what file it dl'd, or I would delete the file and
force it to download again.

I've gotten this request to update and then the error message 4 times
in the last 10 days.

I can find suggestions on how to fix it, but the
person with the problem, never reports back whether
anything helped or not. So nothing I'm reading (so
far) is confirmed.

One suggestion is to manually (Add/Remove Programs) remove
the old version of Java. Then download the offline installer
from Oracle, and install the new version.

I can't even tell from the description, whether this is
a runtime certificate check (the Java software checking
its own modules while it loads). Or, whether it's just a
part of the updater process. It's probably the updater
that has a bug. And then, doing it manually, would be bypassing
that step. Until the next time.

Java is probably just confessing it's a bug-ridden collection
of datamining trash
Uninstall it, unless you really need it.
And NEVER allow Java extension on your browser. It usually
installs itself there. Firefox will disable it automatically, other
browsers might not.

Which version of Java do you have?
I use 8.0.650.17, Oct 2015, and have not had any problems.
