Default User switch drops wireless network connection

XP Pro SP3 on a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop with fast user switching
enabled and connected to an 802.11g wireless home network. Every time I
switch users the wireless network connection is lost and takes a minute
or more to reconnect. This is very annoying. How can I prevent this?

Thanks.

A lot depends on what wireless connection-applet you are using. Many of the
thrid-party ones run under the HKCU 'run..' registry key, therefore the
connection cannot survive a change of user. For this situation, you need one
which runs as service.

The inbuilt "Wireless Zero Configuration" service may prove better in this
respect. Suggest you disable or remove any third-party wifi manager and
activate this from services.msc.

Default User switch drops wireless network connection

With Win 7 on my Dell 1525 notebook, I had a problem with the wireless
disconnecting when using fast user switching.

For me, simply uninstalling the Dell Wireless Config software from
"Programs and Features" resolved the issue. No driver removal, no reg
edits. It seems that the problem was entirely with the Dell software, at
least in my case.
