Default Help with highlighted text color

For some unexplained reason the background color of selected text has
turned to dark blue and makes the text impossible to read once
selected.

I've tried ways to lighten the color but so far none work.

Can anyone suggest a fix?

Rule number one in asking a question on Usenet; Put you question into
context and fully explain the problem at hand.

Your answer is very dependent upon the software/application of the subject
matter. While you may understand to what this problem pertains to but we
don't have a crystal ball.

For Windows, up to & including XP (later are similar but not the same)...

1. Go to Display properties (or rtclick desktop and select properties)

2. Go to "Appearance" tab

3. Click "Advanced"

4. Use the drop down box under "Item" to scroll down to "Selected Items"

5. Change to color to what you want

6. Apply/OK your way out.

Thanks to David and dadiOH for responding. Dave my apologies - I
failed to mention that I was using Win XP SP3 and the selected text in
most text related applications turned dark blue and became unreadable.
I noticed this first in the browser of Agent the newsreader when I
selected a message to retrieve - it occurs in other applications as
well.

I beleive that dadiOH's suggestion has solved the problem.

Thanks to both ouf you.
