Default Internet only in safe mode

Hi guys,

I have an XP professional 32 bit SP 2 installed as a 32 gig partition. I
have both IE 7 and Chrome installed and neither are able to connect to
the internet from a normal boot. This occurred during the restart from
when i was uninstalling an outdated norton 360 and installing avira
antivirus in its place.

When i boot in safe mode (with networking) i am able to connect to the
internet fine. I have checked my connection settings and am not running
through a proxy or anything when i do boot in normal mode. I am also
confident it is not malware related as i have, upon discovering this
error checked for malware using my antivirus (avira) and have had the
logs of a number of spyware related programs reviewed. When i try to
connect to the internet the diagnostic error message indicates it is
unable to locate ftp https and http protocols. I have also tried
connecting with antivirus and firewall disabled but that did not work.

I am at a loss of what to do at this point so any help you may be able
to provide will be greatly appreciated.

Norton
Go to their website and download their special uninstalling tool/s to properly unload the norton virus - pick your version of the
virus according to the one you had installed earlier.
Good luck - it can be got rid of.
