Default error messages

Hi, I hope somebody can help me! I am new to Video capture etc, but have recently installed a video capture card (Ezycapture) and the bundled RealProducer. I also have Videostudio 7 installed. Everytime I try to capture video from a VCR using either of
these programs or Microsoft Moviemaker I get the windows error message that the program (whichever I use) "has encountered a problem and must close etc... The error code in the log of the message is 0xc0000096. The address code is 0x0000000000000bc9bc9a.
I have re-installed the software and updated the Video capture card drivers for XP, but to no avail. Please help as I am now at a loss.
Thanks in anticipation.
