System Properties Memory Incorrect
My new HP Pavilion zv5240ca laptop came with 512mb RAM (2 256mb cards), and
that's what shows up in the BIOS. Control Panel - System Properties shows 384mb RAM, and so does Task Manager. Is this a Windows issue or an HP issue? OS is XP Home, SP2 with all patches. |

Hi, Mike.
How much of your 512 MB RAM is used by your display adapter? Many laptops have graphics chips that share RAM with the CPU. Check the manual for your new computer to see if your display adapter has its own RAM, or uses some of the main system memory. RC -- R. C. This is common with laptops and on-board video cards. The manufacturers cut
corners and use shared memory for the system RAM and the video card. "Mike D" wrote in message ... Thanks, that was it: VIDEO GRAPHICS ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9000 IGP - 128MB DDR (shared) "R. C. Mike,
I have the same problem. unlike yours, my bios & XP shows that i have only 384.. It looks like a hardware problem than XP. have you contacted HP? The integrated graphics "card" is using the remaining 128MB. Somewhere in
the BIOS there's a setting to how much memory to give the gfx adapter..... -- Tumppi Reply to group ================================================= Most learned on nntp://news.mircosoft.com Helsinki, Finland (remove _NOSPAM) (translations from FI/SE not always accurate) ================================================= kirjoitti viestissä oups.com...
