https://pureinfotech.com/windows-10-...-release-date/

"manufacturers will get the new code on May 5
developers are expected to get the update on May 12

The original plan was to launch the new version on May 12,
but because of a zero-day exploit, the company decided to
fix the problem before shipping the update.

Release date is on May 28, 2020,
after being in the Release Preview ring for a few weeks.
"

It's like Christmas in May.

If one's definition of "Christmas" translates to "Fresh new Hell."

It means income for Todd, so it can't all be bad.

And you don't need a new OS, to end up in trouble.

I'm going to have to reinstall what passes for a "daily driver"
version of Windows 10, because some network detection stuff is
now in a loop. I plugged in my USB3 to Ethernet adapter, to slow
down the looping rate on the other adapter enough, that I could
make a connection with Firefox.

And this all seems to be related to something VirtualBox did, in
terms of its driver stack, and its TAP/TUN into the networking
stack.

I think I turned on Restore Points the last time I was in there,
so I may give that a try first.

I like to simulate less drastic solutions here,
for the learning experience. Wiping is for
dumpster fires.

That's why I did a Repair, to see if the Networking Stack
could be resolved that way. I sorta fixed it in a
previous session with some manual "delete device, uninstall"
and such, but obviously not well enough to survive a
Patch Tuesday. So whatever I did, wasn't stable indefinitely.
But now that the Network Adapter numbers seem to be aligned
again, I'm pretty confident when 2003 comes in, there shouldn't
be any more surprises.

This is also why I don't try novel disk structures. I try
to keep things bog-standard, so if someone says
"where is profiles.ini?", then there's a good chance
an install here might match their install.

Chuckle. Of course you are correct.

I only use my W10 VM for research so wiping is
a good option: I just have to install Firefox,
Brave, Raku, ESET and I am good to go.
