Default XP Will not install

Hello, all,

I have a newly built machine that refuses to accept an installation of
Windows XP. I am using an MSDN Academic Alliance version of XP and a store
bought Pro version; neither will load. Setup hangs when loading setup files
or, I get a BSOD with the error KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR, and instructions
about replacing or removing hardware or software, along with something about
mountmgr.sys. Then it says to try again. I've read this is usually a
hardware thing, so I've swapped out the CDROM drive, the HDD and the
graphics card with the same results, everything else is integrated into the
MOBO, which is a brand new SOYO with a used Athlon processor. I've used this
processor with the same model SOYO and the same memory sticks in another
machine, no problems. Can anybody help?

Many thanx,

Rip

This was taken from WinXP Stop Errors. I would try connecting the
hard drive on the Primary IDE channel as Master
by itself.
0x0000007A: KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
(Click to consult the online Win XP Resource Kit article, or see Windows
2000 Professional Resource Kit, p. 1553.)
A page of kernel data was not found in the pagefile and could not be read
into memory. This might be due to incompatible disk or controller drivers,
firmware, or hardware.
a.. Windows NT 4.0 Setup Troubleshooting Guide {KB 126690} NT 4
(Recommendations for the current error message are buried down inside this
article, which isn't necessarily limited to NT 4.)
b.. Connecting a Hard Disk Drive in Slave Only Mode Leads to System Halt
During Resume From Standby {KB 330100} Win XP SP1 (Windows installed on a
slave drive.)
