I've never had any issues with slicking the hardware they give me, and putting on Linux. In fact, the customer's IT department seems to leave you alone if you run Linux, as long as you update frequently. My brother works in brokerage they have very strict rules regarding personal software, USB keys and so forth. It's dictated by the SEC and penalties do exist but at worst they are civil penalties. Most often the person either gets warned or fired. It's not against the law though. Where I work, they have a saying: "It is better to ask forgiveness than permission." In other words, be safe, but git 'er done. -- Is it clean in other dimensions? |
