Norton or Avast
I have Comcast as my ISP and they offer the Constant Guard Protection Suite
and Firewall and antivirus services are provided by the Norton Security Suite bundled with the program for no additional cost. I am presently using the free Avast and am happy with it. I also run SpyWareBlaster , Script Sentry and the pd MBAM in real-time mode. No problems yet. Is the Comcast free offering worth it? Pros and Cons !!!!!! Thanks, Buffalo |

As far as MBAM goes, real time protection with any security program could cause conflicts so keep that in mind. Just my opinion. |

Either way you're fine. |

Pros and Cons !!!!!! Thanks, Buffalo Keep what you have. It never made sense to me to involve a middle man for AV/AM protection. Imo, if you wish to change to Norton then purchase and install the retail Symantec version. Norton products today (unlike prior year versions 2010 and earlier) are no longer as invasive and bloated as some age-old advise might indicate. -- ....winston msft mvp consumer apps |

As far as I'm concerned, Avast is much better than Norton. I would definitely not change. And SpywareBlaster and MBAM are also good choices. I know nothing about Script Sentry, so I won't comment on it. |

Perhaps ScriptSenty is out of date. I also use the pd version of WinPatrol. Thanks, -- Buffalo |

It is the best Anti Virus product I have ever used. I have decided never to use free versions ever again unless it is from Microsoft. I have LiveSafe so it allows me to install on any machines I own so it is almost free you can say. |

This is a joke? Right!!! “The installation process itself takes around 19 days. When this inevitably goes wrong, the user discovers that the support helpline number is not on the box ...thus begins a demented quest for closure that ends with the consumer naked in a forest, eating his own arm.” doesn't sound like a joke to me. Was it Virus Bulletin's site? https://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/latest_comparative/index AIUI, companies have to submit their products for testing, so they'd better have faith in it. :-) I never saw MS Security Essentials rate as high as I see people say it is. Even now the Microsoft entry is in the back of the pack. There's an AV company here in the US called PCMatic. They've been running a lot of commercials touting their #1 standing in the April tests at Virus Bulletin. True, they did score #1, but they also generated 1600+ false positives. And they aren't even tested in this latest round. -- Ken Mac OS X 10.8.5 Firefox 25.0 Thunderbird 24.6.0 "My brain is like lightning, a quick flash and it's gone!" |

Traditionally, Microsoft has never advertised its MSE or Windows Defender and so I am not surprised it is not highly rated. Microsoft has always thought itself as top of the top!! Now who would argue with them when everybody uses their products of some kind to run their lives. |
