Default open windows resizing

Is there any way to set my preferred size of a particular window to stay
the way I want it to?

I have a very small excel file I use as a sort of daily checklist, and
keep it open on my desktop. I often return to my computer to mark
something off and discover that the open window displayed on the desktop
has resized itself, almost always to a much smaller size.

I find this exasperating.

TIA for any help!

Excel will reopen using the size it was when you last closed it.

Is it resizing while already open? Or do you close it and then reopen
it, finding that it is a different size?

Unless you're intending to do sums on the contents: if you just want a
table - a grid - then use a table in Word; that's much more versatile.
(Lots of people think "Excel" when all they want is a table.)

However, I don't know if that would make any difference to the problem

I find that sizing the window and using the File-Exit rather than the 'X' in the upper right.
Exit seems to save it for me. That or it's an old XP thinggy.

Tables in Word can be sufficient for a daily 'ToDo' type checklist but
Excel for many might be more familiar and quite a bit more flexible for
adding rows/columns, sorting, highlighting specific cells when data is
not stagnant.

Other tools like OneDrive's OneNote can be used for simple lists, as
well as a stand-alone or local email/web mail client's Calendar
'Task/ToDo' list.

I suspect the op is reasonably comfortable with Excel as the personal
choice for a daily checklist but as you've and others have noted other
options are available.

I don't think Windows or Excel are capable of changing or resizing an
existing open window on the desktop without direct user intervention.

I hadn't originally noticed the OP's description of spontaneous resizing
until just before I read your post, and when I realized what he said, I
had the same reaction as you.

It would have made more sense if you had replied to the post you were
commenting on instead of mine...
