Default How do I change the data type of a key in the registry hive HKCU?

Hi:
Can anyone tell me a simple method of changing a data type in HKCU? I would
like to change HKCU\software\microsoft\windows\current version\explorer\user
shell\nethood\ .............. Currently the data type is Reg_sz and I wish
to change it to Reg_expand_sz. Please be specific.

Default How do I change the data type of a key in the registry hive HKCU?

Delete the named string and recreate it. Be advised that whatever uses it
may be broken as a result.
