Default windows media player &codecs

Hello everyone.

When I use windows media player and there is a problem with codecs,
they are installed by itself, that is, system loads it from some
server and put
somewhere into my system. My question : where ? In which folder ? How
can I find all
the codecs which were installed ? I would like to install them again
after
installing windows without accessing to that serwer. Is it possible ?
