Slow Printing on RAS connection

XPHOME edition is connecting and authenticating to a
remote server through a Windows 2K server RAS connection.

15 XPHOME laptops use to take 15 seconds to send a test
page to an NT4.0 box, no problem. I upgraded the box to
Windows 2K Server and now printing takes 3 minutes for a
test page.

I downloaded a hotfix from Microsoft but it only works on
Windows 2K workstations and below. Is there anything I
can do to fix the XPHOME laptops? The Hotfix will not
install on the xphome laptops.
