Of course not. That's why I recommended a free solution. You need to
work on your reading comprehension, as well as your so far pitiful
knowledge of computers.

its' cheaper just to start
over to reinstall the o.s.

That would depend on whether or not the OP's time is less valuable than
the free solution I offered, wouldn't it?

No, they weren't. Had the OP followed your instructions, he/she'd have
ended up with two partitions and no way to expand the system partition.

Name calling won't change that fact that you offered bad advice, as is

you can't read:

"is there a way to keep the 7 gig of
win xp and other programs"

&

"but gain use to the rest of the

you're the one with the
problem.

the o.p. didn't ask for a
partitioning program.

this is "your" solution for
something the o.p. didn't
ask for.

obviously you one of those
persons who imposes "your"
ideas, whether people want
them or not.

----------------

also, your so-called free
solution is trail ware,
free for 30 days.

but if you were accurate
with providing a solution
that was "free",

then this would be a better
option:

http://www.free-partition-tool.com/

keep the above in mind
when you decide to make
people use one of your
solutions.
------------

if anyone is pitiful is your
persistent attitude and
unprofessionalism "and"

the rat pack that seem
to support your ill-perceptions.

7 gig is little space for WinXP, unless you have few
programs installed and few data on your hd,
wich commonly is not the case.

Then you have to look for a way to expand the size of your partition,
as you have been advised to do so.

But this is not a work for unexperienced people.
A little mistake in this case can lead to complete disasters,
so, at least, be sure to save your data first.

hope this helps,
Carlos

I installed win xp on a 80 gig drive but when i look at it under explorer
it
shows 7 gig when i look at it under disk management, it shows 7 gig ntfs
and
66 gig unallocated.
do I have to start all over again, and reinstall win xp or is there a way
to
keep the 7 gig of win xp and other programs but gain use to the rest of
the
drive? If i do have to reinstall how do i get the whole drive allocated?
Thanks in advance for your help

it can be that db didn't speak correctly, only

he mean that unrecognized
space has not been taken in to account,
no that the user have a problem insideWindows
installation,

there is no reason to protest energically

Er...., completely wrong order. If the OP were to create and format a
partition in the unallocated space, there'd clearly be no room in which to
expand the system partition.

Stick with subjects you know, whatever those might be. It's certainly not
computers.

She can relatively easily expand that 7 gig with a third party tool like
Partition Magic, which might be her best bet. It would be worth the
expense, and Partitition Magic is pretty straightforward. Or perhaps
Easeus Partition Manager (freebie). As you said, it would behoove her to
have a backup prior to doing this.
