Exactly, Update 2 will become Treshold/Windows9 or whatever.
Another way of MS to make more money.

With the August update for 8.1 encountering problems on a small subset
of users (enough to temporarily pull the deployment) Threshold might not
be everything expected.

Lol..Update 2, No such thing.

Considering the ridiculously short delivery time of
Windows 9, my statement is referring to taking
a "Windows 8.1 Update 2" update sitting in the lab
(the prototype shown in the BUILD conference pictures),
and just re-branding it as Windows 9.

We'll have to wait until September, to see whether
any other Deck Chairs than the Start Menu, have
been moved around. And what gaudy new colors will
be used for the Metro tiles. Maybe we'll get
Angry-Birds-branded Solitaire or something.

With MSFT apparently trying to change the 'Sinofsky-ized' feel of
Windows, it just seems unlikely that a dinosaur left turn is capable.

Even Win7 had its share of naysayers.

Almost every version of Windows had its naysayers at the time of release.
And although I have never owned anything Apple (other than an iPod) since an
Apple II-compatible Franklin Ace way back when, I'm sure it has it's own
group of "Don't do that" people, too. I can't think of a single OS that
didn't have it's share of detractors at the release of a new
version/update/upgrade.

We won't even get into cars :-)
