Default Cannot access My Computer via start menu

When i click on the start menu and choose My Computer, Control Panel or My
Network Places, the screen simply refreshes, the tool bar at the bottom
diappears and then it all comes back. I cannot get into any of them. The
same happens with the recycle bin.

I have run ant virus software inv and it's clean.

I can run all programs and applications without problem. When on the
internet i type in C:\ i can see the drives contents.

Are there any error reports in Event Viewer? If yes please post copies.

Make an exact note of the precise text of any error message. Minor
discrepancies can
make it harder to search for information about the error message.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer.
When researching the meaning of the error, information regarding Event
ID, Source
and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default...&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the
error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two
pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now start your
message
(email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This will paste the
info from the
Event Viewer Error Report complete with links into the message. Make
sure this is
the first paste after exiting from Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for this info. I have rerun the anti virus about 10 times and it seems
to of worked, in any case i could not even get to Administrative Tools or
the Control Manager.

Helpful info though as i didn't know about Event Viewer.

Thanks
