Thank you R.C.
Indeed, I'm GMT zone, Scotland, and I forgot that not all the world gets up according the GMT...- I wet to the site; http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/preview follow the links and took the chance to "try it". After all checks I was told ; "Windows Update Standalone Installer The update is not applicable to your computer." I wonder why ? Also I noted this, which is not my case. "Enterprise and volume license users: If you're running Windows 8 Enterprise or the Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation on your PC, you'll need to download the Windows 8.1 Preview ISO files. " And of course the Windows 8.1 Preview ISO files are NOT available YET...- JD ------------------------------------------------ "R. C. White" wrote in message ecom... Hi, Forte. Maybe you were awake before the folks in Redmond. ;^} It's probably all over the Internet by now. I got this paragraph with my daily One Step Update on Quicken: "SAN FRANCISCO, June 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Microsoft Corp. today announced the immediate availability of the Windows 8.1 Preview, the next update of the Windows operating system, at the company's developer-focused Build conference. As part of the conference's keynote speech, the company outlined the reach, design and economic opportunities for developers to build differentiated, touch-based apps for the Windows platform, including new developer tools and increased support. Company executives also highlighted new top apps coming to Windows, including Facebook, Flipboard and NFL — clear evidence of the steady app momentum for Windows, which is experiencing the fastest growth across any platform." As Ken Blake said, that doesn't mean that MOST of us should be in a hurry to download and try it, just because it is available. If you are not a confirmed and adventurous Early Adopter, wait at least until you hear comments from those who rush ahead of the pack. RC -- R. C. Do NOT forget to archive the install key PLUS your media center install key if you got the free media center add-on! If, like me, you plan to wipe your Win8 install and maybe do a clean install later, you'll need those keys! NOTE: A little weirdness, I could NOT get the .iso file booting into Win7, I had to boot back to Win8 to download it. Indeed it isn't like other previews. It's even more confusing
after getting almost use to the version 8.0. But I welcome start button in the left bottom corner. I'm just checking it now. First impression isn't bad. "...winston" wrote in message ...
