Default multiple problems

hi

i am facing a problem with windows xp at my home pc. After having
survived a virus attack i have failed:

1. to access folder options
2. to open my c, d and e drives from my computer (when i left click on
the icon i get "open with" dialog box)

There is another query, i have heard that there is a "no drive" key in
windows registry which makes your logical hard drives disappear from
my computer or explorer.

i am keeping windows format as a last option so please save me the
time of fresh installation. further more if someone could guide me to
any gud windows registry group that would be another great help.

thanx in advance

Default multiple problems

For Missing Folder Options, try this:

http://www.mindyourbrain.1gig.biz/Tr...lderoption.htm

or Manual Fix:

For Windows XP Professional:

1. Click Start - Run - type GPEDIT.MSC
2. Expand to
User Configuration
Administrative Templates
Windows Components
Windows Explorer
3. Double-click "Remove the Folder Options menu item from the Tools menu" in
right side pane.
4. If it is set to "Enable" or "Not configured" then set it "Disable".

For both Windows XP and Home Edition: (Modifying registry need high
attention. Do it carefully)

1. Click Start - Run - type Regedit
2. Here expand to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
SOFTWARE
MICROSOFT
WINDOWS
CURRENTVERSION
POLICIES
EXPLORER
3. in the right-side pane check for the DWORD value NoFolderOptions
4. If it is not there then create a new DWORD value by right-clicking
NEW-DWORD
5. Type a name 'NoFolderOptions" and press Enter.
6. Double-click the entry and set the value to 0
7. Open any folder and see if Folder Options is there. If it is still not
there then Log Off and Log in again or make a restart

For your second problem try this:

Go to Start/Run and type in:

regsvr32 /i shell32

Click OK.

Restart your computer.

Hope this help, let us know!

Default multiple problems

1. Open My Computer - click Tools - Folder Options
2. Click View Tab - and then click "Show Hidden Files and Folders"
3. Uncheck the box "Hide Protected Operating System Files"
4. Now, open your C Drive and search if there is any "Autorun.inf"
5. Delete that file and restart your PC.

Check if the following applies to you:
