Running P4 Intel 854E

I Noticed XP getting very slow so I began to
systematically uninstall recent patches. Problem is with
811493.Uninstalling fixes it. Recreate problem by
reinstalling 811493

Thought this might be useful to others

Just about to post the same findings, interesting as I uninstalled
it showed three programs I installed today and said they may not work
correctly
They seem to be ok

Guess i'll wait a bit before these daily downloads.

Microsoft needs to validate their own files...

Same problem here...uninstalled the patch and everything back up to
speed. Microsoft has to patch their patches now? Go figure!

Try disabling your Anti Virus software - or get an update from your AV vendor

Thomas;
Go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
Near the bottom, look for 811493.

In addition to the severe slowdown, did anyone else have his or her
DVD playback disabled? Trying to play a DVD would freeze my computer
for 10 seconds, then fine for 5, then frozen for 10, etc. I use WinDVD
4, but the erratic behavior started shortly after I inserted the disc.
WinDVD wouldn't start, along with Windows Media, PowerDVD, etc. When I
thought Microsoft couldn't get any more pathetic...

Thanks to you all for finding this out before I even had a chance to
install it
whats with microsoft I mean damm are they this bad now, don't they
ever test anything on a real world computer, not some microsoft
supermachine with nothing running thus leaving every piece of ram and
cpu open for use,
they should really start paying more attention.

Also I would like to add this ?

I have an Nvida Geforce 2 GTS 64mb Card
ever since I updated the Driver When XP Boots
the Boot Screen Progress bar ( the green moving thingy)
Frezzes for like 15-20 secs. Wonder why that is???

This really should have been a new/seperate post/thread,
but since I'm here already... ;-)

The boot vis tool for WinXP is to help sort and optimize the
OS and vendor drivers during the boot up process...quicker boots.
A useful feature of the tool...is that is logs a "time line" of how
long each device/driver takes to load during the system boot up.
So run it in logging mode and reboot...then open and have a
look to see what/where the delay occurs.
http://www.microsoft.com/hwdev/platf...ot/BootVis.asp

If you have a further problem, then please start a new thread.
Then we all can benefit/find the question and solutions.
Some posting guidelines...(just an fyi)

Thank you!
