Default unable to enable wireless network adapter

I recently installed a us robotics network adapter into my desktop, but when
I try to connect to the internet it states that although the adapter is
enabled the hardware switch needs to be enabled before the adapter will work.
Can someone please tell me how to enable the hardware switch on a desktop.

Thanks

Basically this message says that somewhere on the adapter is a
hardware switch (button, jumper or whatever)
and you should turn it ON.
If your model does not have this switch or you can't locate it, call the USR
support.
