Default Jerky video viewing

Video viewing with WMP and Real Player has become very jerky. At first I
thought it was just streamed content, but it's the same with every video
file I have - picture freezing and unfreezing every few seconds, the sound
OK.

I downloaded the latest driver for my graphics controller (Intel
82852/82855) but when I try to install it, it says it cannot be installed
on my computer.

Would anyone have any ideas? I'm running Windows XP Home, have plenty of
disk space, have removed all unnecessary programs and done full
virus and spyware checks.

TIA,

Ian
