Default parsing error

This morning I tried to remove an unwanted program; I received a "Fatal
Error" message, something about 'parsing error.' I don't know what that
means. I don't know how to remove the program if "add/remove" won't do it.
My knowledge of a computer and its works is very basic. Can someone explain:
parsing, parsing error, how to get rid of the program easily (and please
don't suggest that I visit the Geek squad; those people know less than I do)
Thanks

Default parsing error

A parsing error is saying that some command line running automatically in
your system is not a correct 'syntax' (or 'right way to say something')
Although it is a bit hard to use, this app will let you go thru all the apps
running automatically in your system, and remove those things you recognize
as the parts of that thing you took out that still trying to run.

AutoRuns for Windows v8.61:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sys.../Autoruns.mspx

There are other utilities that also do this, and you might try one of those,
if you don't like Autoruns, but something like this will solve the relic
parsing error.

I downloaded Autoruns. Remember up above when I mentioned that I know very
little about a computer? I don't know what to take out and what to leave in.
Some of those things I've never seen before. I'm afraid to do anything for
fear I'll do it wrong and then the computer will be screwed up worse than
before. Is there anything more simple?

Did all this; system is clean. The program I'd like to remove found its way
onto the computer because a grandchild erred. Otherwise, we are very careful
about things on the web.

The easiest is MSCONFIG (from start/run line) The startup tab has checks to
take out.

Hi Bud,
Try this tool:

Read the help file with it and use it, make sure you selected the right path
for that Application and click delete.

OK, I did the clean up; thought I had done it before but had not; disabled
"not verified" items, except those added by Microsoft; removed something from
"PopCap," one of whose games is what I cannot remove. I am free of malware
and viruses. I'm not sure how to run anything in 'safe' mode; I tried
pushing f8 today while the computer was booting and nothing happened. Like I
said, I know little. Thanks for the help.

OK, typed in msconfig and found the tab. Looked at all the entries. Don't
see anything that looks like it's from PopCap. Don't see anything that looks
like it shouldn't be there. Did try to remove the program again and received
'fatal error' message, once again something about parsing.

Pressing F8 must be done at the correct moment, a thing not easy on some
systems. If you run MSCONFIG you get a checkbox that elects to start in safe
mode. Of course, you uncheck that later to start normally

Default parsing error

Thanks. I downloaded CCleaner and let it clean things up. Seems I missed
some things. I appreciate the help.

Although it is a bit hard to use, this app will let you go thru all the apps
running automatically in your system, and remove those things you recognize
as the parts of that thing you took out that still trying to run.

AutoRuns for Windows v8.61:

There are other utilities that also do this, and you might try one of those,
if you don't like Autoruns, but something like this will solve the relic
parsing error.

Does the App gone for good or still showing up?.
Run the System File Checker to repair any damaged system files may be
corrupted:
Open a run command and type in:
sfc /scannow click [OK] let it run, you may want your X CD handy?.

Default parsing error

Okay, Open a run command and type in:
regedit.exe click [OK] on the Registry Editor try and locate these Keys:
[-]HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run = look in
the right Pane/window, if you can see the running process Delete it by
selecting it and Hit Delete Button on your Keyboard.

[-]HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run = look
in the right Pane/window, if you can see the running process Delete it by
selecting it and Hit Delete Button on your Keyboard.

Also if you Right click on the Left Side of the Window where the Keys listed
you will find an option called " Find" if you clicked it and type in the name
of the app it will highlight it for you and you can select the folder ( which
have the name of the game and delete it.
