Not on my end. Just installed 68.7 it on another machine. As it turned out , part of the problem I was having with lag of the filter which I use to get rid of Usenet trolls was due to the number of posts. There was on in particular that took a long time simply because there were hundreds of posts to delete. My problem is that it kills my extensions which no longer work, For instance one important one is "Theme font and size changer" , which I really need due to poor vision. So I switched back to 60.9.1 and locked it down for no updates. Rene |

Need to do anything else? I'm asking because I don't want Thunderbird to update, but there's an update which has already been downloaded, 'so' - despite being set to 'Never check for updates' -, at startup it keeps nagging and I just once have to click the wrong button and I'm cactus. BTW, does anyone know how to get rid of an already downloaded - but not installed - update? FYI, I have 60.9.0, i.e. slightly older than you. |

When the add-on developer drops out, for whatever reason, and the program developers don't pick it up, any update can be a step backwards in usability. I vaguely recall a way to import the old profile if necessary. |

Rene This is due to the version of Firefox used, and the older ESR version may have supported "Theme font and size changer". 52.9ESR might have been the last Firefox to support the old plugins, and Thunderbird lags a bit in terms of which ESR it's based on. And they changed to a later ESR some time ago. And that ESR doesn't support the old plugins. There is a web page (somewhere), which lists which ESR is used with which version of TB. Paul |

The latest corporate governance. https://blog.thunderbird.net/2020/01...irds-new-home/ Â*Â* January 28, 2020: Â*Â* "the Thunderbird project will be operating from a new Â*Â*Â* wholly owned subsidiary of the Mozilla Foundation, Â*Â*Â* MZLA Technologies Corporation." Â*Â* "Update: A few of you have asked how to make a contribution Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* to Thunderbird under the new corporation, especially Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* when using the monthly option. Please check out our Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* updated site at give.thunderbird.net" Which means, I would guess in a business sense, that if "TB" goes bankrupt, it has no impact on the mother ship. That's why it's legally separated. Mozilla finances are such (income versus expenses), that they cannot afford "overhang" in their operating structure. Mozilla has a large income, but for some reason, has a large expense. Mozilla headcount 1000, while making Firefox (and trying to make a services business). Mozilla fired 70 people in January (numbers only approximate, because some of those people moved elsewhere in the corporation). The January thing is the start of a cleanup. I would expect more axing, or new-hire-cutoff behaviors there, in line with the finances. Expect fewer muffin baskets. Or carrot cakes. Â*Â* Paul I have used and adored Firefox for years. Since they fired Brendan Eich (creator of Javascript and former CEO of Mozilla Corporation) for the way he voted on the gay rights initiative, Firefox has slowly stopped working on several sites that are critical to me and my customers. Firefox is slowly dying. Every release gets worse and worse. I hate to see it happen. So I am glad they spun off Thunderbird. Mozilla needs to learn how to properly behave in a Republic. Firing someone for the way they voted is Anti American. They did this to themselves. I now install both Firefox and Brave Browser (also Brendan's doing) on customer machines. Sometimes Vivaldi too. Both Brave and Vivaldi are "blink" based browsers like Chrome. Brave's claim to fame is no ads and no spying. Vivaldi can be de-ad'ed with uBlock Orgin. Vivaldi is customizable out the wazoo. I don't care for Chrome, as it spies on your ass mercilessly. |
