Default OT Can a valid site be forged by changing the beginning of the URL

If I site ends in something valid like microsoft.com or apple.com can
it be faked by adding something to the front.

Like............support.apple.com or update.microsoft.com or
whatever.google.com

That would be pretty difficult if not nearly impossible to do. These
are sub-domains which are part of a larger domain and they are usually
resolved and routed internally by DNS or web servers on the domain
owner's network, the domain itself is resolved by your ISP's DNS server
or by another bonafide DNS server. Domain hierarchy is read and
resolved from right to left.

So, sub.domain.com is resolved to domain.com by the the DNS server and
..sub is usully resolved internally at the domain.com server. See here
for more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subdomain

I didn't understand your question at all, when reading the subject
line, but your post made me realize I've had the same question for
years, but never put it into words. Thanks for asking it. I would
not have thought that changing the first part kept it a subdomain of
the second part (like apple). I guess because first is before second
but subdomain should follow domain! (I have a simple mind.)
