Task Bar Icons question
Windows 8. I am annoyed by the task bar icons expanding in my face
any time I happen to bring the mouse pointer over these icons. Is there any way to change this or eliminate it entirely? Thanks, Gordon |

Thanks, Gordon OK, try this. http://www.addictivetips.com/windows...ows-7-taskbar/ You want to do the exact opposite of what they're doing. 1) Open Regedit. 2) Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER : Control Panel : Mouse MouseHoverTime = 400 3) Change the value to 40000 (likely to be milliseconds). Save and exit. Will require a reboot (or at least a logout I would guess). What used to happen, is if you hovered on a Firefox icon (with three windows present), they would pop up three thumbnails side by side just above the icon. With the change, to get the thumbnails to pop up now, you'll need to click the icon. Or, wait patiently for the 40 second value you just loaded, for the hover function to fire off. Maybe the value is allowed to be 2 billion or 4 billion, so if you suspect that 40 seconds still isn't long enough, higher values likely work. At least if you "fly your mouse" over that area now, it won't behave quite as badly. Paul |

It gives me about 10 seconds, not the 40 that I was expecting, but that works well. If I need more time I'll do another change. I had to re-boot twice but that probably was caused by some other automatic update downloads that just happened to come down the pike at this time. Gordon |
