Default How do I set up a Web Cam for Realtime Phone calls please


Hello could somone please explain to me about how to set up and run a
Web Cam and instant Message?
I run MS WinXP3 Intel Pent 4 CPU 2.80GHz, 512Ram with Intel
82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller’ connected to Internode ADSL
B/Band I am using a Uniden Dig 5GHz Cordless Phone(2) and Base connected
to MyNetFone VoiP next to the Computer.

I have just purchased a Logitech Quick Cam Pro 9000 Web Cam and it is
Skype, Win Mess Etc Compatible according to the Reviews!

I have 3 Friends and family Long Distances Away 2 have Notebooks and
all have Desk tops using Skype and others on some sort of Video
Messenger, Windows Mess Or Yahoo Mess!

I just wanted to know when my camera arrives do I just install the
Drivers and Stuff it come's with and plug it in and then will I be able
to talk Realtime to the friends with the Skype Setups and the others? is
that how it works? Or do I have to find and download some type of
software (Free I Hope) Like Windows Messenger or some other Messaging or
Web Cam Program to make it all work? Could somebody please advise me
what I have to do Thanks to anyone who can Help Dasha

Greetings,

All the applications you've mentioned support standard webcams in Windows, including the
QuickCam 9000. All you need to do is install the drivers (preferably from www.logitech.com,
not the CD), plug it in and then go.

One other minor step you might need is to configure the camera device in each application if
it doesn't automatically select it. Since you have no other capture devices, this probably
won't be necessary. To get to the configuration wizard in Messenger however, open up any
Messenger window, press the Alt key on the keyboard, choose Tools, and then Audio and video
setup. In Skype, you'll find the options under the Tools menu, Options, Video Settings.
