Holy sh*t... I can't believe it's actually working. I have it on a flash
drive. I can plug it into any PC when working or on the road and don't care
take my laptop in fear it'll get pinched. This is fantastic.

Yeah the runasXP OE is nice, has only rwo deficiences that I have
discovered...

1. You can't change the location of the message store and the OE options do
not include the ability to block/download external content..

2. OE Quote Fix doesn't completely work with it due - probably - to the OE
inability re external content.

I am running this version of OE6 and I am able to change the store
location and block external content.

I may also be able to make the above referenced changes because I am not
running from a flash drive and also not running a portable version.

Neither am I. Perhaps I'll try a fresh install, maybe D/L too.

I have no reason to change the location of the message store. The whole
thing can remain on the Flash drive.

Do you have backups for that Flash drive ?

Flash drives are not considered primary storage.
They are suited to transporting data from location
to location. But the "best" copy should be deposited
elsewhere for safe keeping (on more than one hard drive).

If the mail has no value from a bookkeeping perspective
and losing it instantly isn't a big deal, then... carry on.

Then you should get a safety with password for your portable device.

You can plug it into any PC running Windows 7 or later.

That is good idea if you want to keep your messages historical in a safe
place.

I didn't consider losing the flash drive but that is possible. I'll have to
see about saving email using OE from the flash. I just don't see how I can
get WindowsMail which I actually like better installed and working on W8.

Why a Flash drive? Spinning HDDs are cheap and small enough and a
320GB one should hold *lots* of emails.

Then I'd have to lug an external drive as well as the laptop around with me.
And will the old OE work on an external HD?

I don't care much for W8 so will use this old Vista LT until it dies. It's
running much better since the System Recovery. Much faster also.
WindowsMail is on it and since the problems were fixed by taking someone's

advice on a forum, I'm using it for my email.

Important email will be backed up when I'm forced to use the LT with W8.

I'll have to check and see if the Flash has something for safety. I never
bothered to look.
