I had an addon called "Tree Style Tab" installed. I didn't remember installing it, but I just tried disabling it and restarting Firefox and it immediately fixed the problem. The tabs are now on the top. That leaves me one major problem that I asked about earlier: When I type a URL or click on a favorite, it opens the page in the current tab, overriding the page that was already open. If I remember to hold down the Ctrl key when I do that, it will open it in a new tab, but I would like opening it in a new tab to be automatic. Is there a way to make that happen, either within Firefox or using an addon? I could have lived with tabs on the side, but I'm sure not that I can live with Firefox unless I find a way to do this. Try right-click on the bookmarked item. |

But what I'm looking for is a way to make that the default when I simply left-click an item, or type a URL and press enter. |

There is a long list of addons. Any that are particularly recommended? 10. Tab Mix Plus - This will address your #1 & #2 above Sorry, I missed your message and didn't see it until now. Number 2 has already been fixed, as I said in a recent message. Number 1 is still open, and although I have Tab Mix Plus installed, I can't find a way for it to solve my problem. Can you be more specific as to what I should do in it to solve the problem? Thanks. |

I don't mean you should feel otherwise, only mentioning that I feel different from you. ISTM that I saw the setting in question and chose not to set it here, so if I'm right, it's there somewhere. But it was a long time ago,and supper is just happening, so I won't look for it ATM. But maybe your add-on isn't what I have. -- Gene E. Bloch (Stumbling Bloch) |

I don't mean you should feel otherwise, only mentioning that I feel different from you. Understood. We're all different, work differently, and have different likes and dislikes. As a single example of what I mean, I tried Chrome and thought it was by far the worst browser I had ever seen. Yet one of my closest friends uses and loves it. ISTM that I saw the setting in question and chose not to set it here, so if I'm right, it's there somewhere. But it was a long time ago,and supper is just happening, so I won't look for it ATM. OK. But if you should run across it, please let me know. |

But, but, but, I was replying to this part: "or type a URL" :-) Alas, Ken has since posted in this thread and it appears that I've misread it. He can't live with it that way, but I can - and do :-) Personally, I would consider the browser to be broken if every click opened in a new tab, so it's definitely a case of 'we're all different'. |

That's OK, I know it can be hard to overlook the first reply to a post. In the TMP options, Go to EVENTS-Tab Opening and put a checkmark next to bookmarks. I also select history, address bar & search bar. Great! That did what I wanted. Thanks very much. I'm a happy camper now! |
